I'm excited to be involved in two upcoming events that will be of interest to all piano teachers:
Sydney - Thursday January 12, 2012
Piano Teachers Festival 2012 – Sydney Conservatorium of Music
At this year's Festival I'll be presenting a topic not much discussed: the business side of teaching piano. As piano teachers, we want our students to play in time… but how do we get them to pay in time? Sure, voicing is important, but what about invoicing? This will be an informative session not on consolations and trills, but cancellations and bills. I'll discuss the ins and outs of running a successful music studio as well as ways to maintain parental support and motivate your students in all aspects of musical life.
In addition to this session, I'll be hosting a scrumptious gourmet afternoon tea that is not to be missed!
The Festival also features other great presenters and all of the sessions are informative and stimulating. The Con is definitely the place to be on January 12-13.

Melbourne – January 24-25, 2012
Piano Educators Days
I will be one of the keynote speakers at the Piano Educators Days at Bernie's Music Land. In addition to discussing practice regimes and the best ways to harness maximum parental support, part of the session will have a special focus on how to keep students motivated when it comes to technical work.
The two days at Bernie's Musicland have identical programs, so teachers should register for whichever day they find more convenient. For more information and on registering and to download the full programme go to
